[Scientists are solitary. Like the majestic mountain, they exist only within the realms of understanding for some people, are solid and enduring, and sometimes have a snow-capped look about them. Mostly in winter. So Carlos is not used to living with other people, he makes rudimentary mistakes even after a few months. Living with the Faceless Old Woman and preparing to live with Cecil did not prepare him for life in housing block one.

One of the things he still fails to do is knock when the bedroom door is closed.

This is something he regrets now. It is something that he would like to go back and redo. It is something he cannot do because he is incapable of moving backwards through his current linear timeline. It is something he cannot do because his eyes are fixed on Jesse Pinkman's hand. And, more specifically, what is is holding.]

Hi.

[Is the first word out of his mouth. It is an automatic reflex to return a greeting, as ingrained and natural as the knee jerk when hit with a rubber hammer or the instincts to flee from a librarian. It is not said with any inflection, it is not accompanied by the usual flash of military cemetery teeth in a smile, it is just there. Two letters, a single syllable, floating between them awkwardly.

And then he blushes, a sudden fiery red infusion of color in his cheeks. But he does not stop staring, he cannot seem to stop staring.]

I mean, ah, that is to say... scientifically speaking, uh, masturbation is a normal instinct for a sexually mature and healthy male. Or, not just a male, a person. Or not just a person, an entity, or something that identifies as having sexual urges. So you shouldn't be ashamed to be seen by me, another human male with the same reproductive organs. But there are children living in this house, children who do not have the same scientific understanding of the sexual needs of a body, and so you should... ah, maybe do that somewhere with a lock on the door. Maybe.

[Cecil is not anyone. Cecil is someone, he is individual, he is different, he is not one of the crowd. He cannot be classified by the descriptor of just anyone.]

I don't think that can be true. Judging by your obvious sexual maturity, and the fact that a sex drive cannot usually be controlled by will alone, I don't think that the statement 'It's not gonna happen again' can be very accurate. A more scientifically accurate statement might have been that it won't happen again where I can see it, but that again might not be true. We cannot see the future, assuming we have a future and assuming we exist right now to talk to each other, so we cannot know what will happen and how many awkward sexually frustrated moments we might interrupt.
